Functional Testing
Still not getting answers, even though your tests came back ‘normal’?
If you’ve been told everything is “fine” by your GP but still feel like something’s off... I hear you. So many of the women I work with are stuck in that frustrating space:
-
Period problems (heavy, painful, irregular or just missing)
-
Bloating, digestive issues, constipation, reflux or food sensitivities
-
Mood swings, anxiety, low energy, poor sleep
-
Headaches, breast tenderness, skin flare-ups
-
Difficulty conceiving or diagnoses like PCOS, endometriosis, adenomyosis, abnormal cervical cell changes, polyps or fibroids
They’ve often tried every supplement, diet, or elimination plan under the sun — but without real data, it’s like throwing spaghetti at the wall. That’s why functional testing is a game-changer.

What is functional testing?
-
Functional testing is a powerful way to investigate what’s really going on in your body. These private tests go much deeper than standard bloods — assessing hormones, gut health, nutrient status, inflammation, ageing, and more.
-
Many of the tests I use are cutting-edge, clinically validated, and used in private healthcare settings. The goal? To stop guessing and start pinpointing the root causes of your symptoms.
These tests can help uncover things like: gut imbalances or hidden infections, hormonal imbalances or poor detox pathways, thyroid and adrenal dysfunction, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, early signs of inflammation or ageing. Most tests are done in the comfort of your own home, using saliva, urine, stool, or finger-prick blood — and results are usually back within 1–3 weeks depending on the test.
If you want to find out more about functional testing and whether it will help you, feel free to book in a free discovery call, and I’ll be happy to help.

DUTCH Complete™ Hormone Test
The DUTCH Complete™ - A deep dive into your hormones and adrenal health and how well your body is metabolising them. Unlike basic blood tests, it gives us a fuller picture by tracking your hormone patterns over a 24-hour period, helping us understand the why behind symptoms like PMS, fatigue, poor sleep, or irregular cycles. What does it assess? • Oestrogen, progesterone, and testosterone • Cortisol and cortisone (your stress response) • How your body breaks down and clears hormones • Neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin) • Key nutrients like B6, B12, and glutathione • Melatonin (your sleep hormone) Who is it for? • Irregular or heavy periods • PMS, mood swings, low libido • Fatigue, sleep issues, anxiety • PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids • Perimenopause or hormone-related skin issues This test is ideal if you're looking for answers beyond what standard blood work can show and want to create a personalised plan that supports your hormones from the root up. Note: The DUTCH test isn’t suitable if you're currently on hormonal contraception. Get in touch and we can chat about whether it’s right for you.
The MetaXplore™ GI Plus is a cutting-edge stool test that provides a comprehensive, functional overview of your gut health. Unlike standard tests, it dives deep into the root causes of symptoms by assessing multiple key areas of gut function - all from a simple at-home sample. What does it assess? - Your full microbial profile (parasites, fungal markers, bacteria and viruses) - Inflammation - Insights into microbial diversity & balance - Digestive enzyme function - Gut lining health - Intestinal permeability (leaky gut) - Occult blood and faecal pH - Immune system activity Who might benefit? This test is ideal for anyone struggling with chronic gut symptoms or unresolved health issues, such as: - Bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux, or IBS - Food sensitivities - Fatigue, brain fog, or low mood - Skin issues, sugar cravings, or recurring infections - PMS, heavy periods, or hormonal imbalances (your gut plays a key role in regulating oestrogen!) - Diagnosed conditions like endometriosis, IBD, or PCOS where gut health may be a hidden driver
The TruAge Complete™ test looks beyond your birthdate to reveal how your body is really ageing. It gives you a clear picture of your biological age, how fast you're ageing, and what might be speeding things up - like inflammation, stress, or lifestyle habits. Using cutting-edge epigenetic science, this test offers a snapshot of how your cells, immune system, and key organs are functioning, so you can make targeted changes to support long-term health and resilience. What does it assess? • Biological age (vs. actual age) • Ageing pace (how fast you're ageing right now) • Organ system age across 11 areas (brain, liver, immune system, etc.) • Inflammation and immune health • Telomere length (a marker of cellular ageing) • Risk indicators for age-related conditions, including cancer • Lifestyle impact (alcohol, smoking, stress) • Predicted grip strength and walking speed Who is it for? • Those wanting to reduce disease risk and improve long-term health • People with a family history of age-related conditions • High performers or biohackers looking for measurable data This test is ideal if you’re ready to take a proactive, personalised approach to ageing.

Why it’s different to what your GP offers
Your GP might have told you everything is “within range”, but that doesn’t always mean those levels are optimal for you. Functional tests look through a much more detailed lens and often assess markers that standard bloods don’t even touch. More importantly, we interpret your results in context: taking into account your symptoms, health history and what’s actually going on for you day-to-day — rather than looking at one number in isolation. While I’ll always recommend you speak to your GP about any ongoing symptoms or health concerns in the first instance, functional testing can be incredibly valuable when you feel something’s not right, but you’re not getting clear answers. These tests aren’t diagnostic, but they can highlight imbalances and patterns that help us tailor a more targeted, root-cause approach to your health.

For as long as I can remember, I have suffered with very painful and heavy periods. More recently, I had been experiencing severe PMS – which included anxiety and low mood. My anxiety had gotten so bad (especially the week or two before my period) that I was even told by my doctor to try anti-depressants. After Hayley’s recommendations, I did a DUTCH test to find out the root cause of my problems. After getting the results, Hayley advised me on some changes and additions to my diet as well as supplements to help correct my hormone imbalance that addressed the root cause of my PMS, hormonal acne and periods that had run my life for so long. In just a matter of months with Hayley’s amazing work and knowledge, things completely changed. I am now feeling better than I have in such a long time and I feel like my cycle is no longer running my life! Hayley - you are absolutely amazing, professional, passionate and I am forever grateful for your help. Thank you so much.
